As the number of victims increases, identity theft is now a huge problem in America. 

However, help is available  and you are welcome to become familiar with identity theft information and current issues and laws available on various US Government websites.

The US government has a number of website that covers all the aspect and Laws of Identity Theft.

In case of identity theft you can approach the Federal Trade Commission. You’ll find lots of resources on the website of Federal Trade Commission like identity theft resources such as their Deter, Detect, Defend Brochure in PDF format; “Take Charge: Fighting Back against Identity Theft”; “What to do if your personal information has been compromised”; a test on identity theft; as well as links to various other identity theft resources.

You’ll also get lots of useful information and resources on identity theft on The Department of Treasury government website. You’ll resources like DVD companion learning guide, a documents for how to obtain credit reports; identity theft tips, forms and facts; Phishing and others.

The IRS website also has some specific information on identity theft and links to a couple of identity theft resources. You’ll get some resources about what you can do to prevent identity theft, what you should do if you think you have been a victim of identity theft, and how your tax records are affected.

This is the website of US Department of Justice. Here you’ll find some information on identity theft – like how to prevent identity theft, as well as what the US Department of Justice is doing about identity theft. You’ll also find lots of identity theft resources on state specific government websites. All these website contains a very useful resource about identity theft but the most often and important website is the Federal Trade Commission website.
